Everything Moves-Short Film

Begins at 7:30, June 22nd. Admission by donation.
Ruth Zaporah started dancing as soon as she could walk and 80 years later, she is still performing. Everything Moves, a new documentary film by Deborah Fort, explores the lifelong artistic passion and boundless curiosity of Zaporah, the founder and teacher of Action Theater, an improvisational style of performing that draws on dance and theatrical traditions. On June 22, Fort visits the Inverness County Center for the Arts for a screening of the film.

Fascinated by Zaporah’s risk-taking improvisational style, Fort began documenting her shows and classes and interviewing Zaporah and her international group of students. The project stretched over ten years, and Fort’s film debuted at the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival earlier this year.
The one-hour film interweaves early and recent performances, classroom scenes, and interviews. It includes home movie footage of Zaporah as a dancing child and intimate scenes of the vigorously octogenarian Zaporah in her home, making an apple pie, and discussing the connection between her Buddhist practice and the rest of her life and work.
