The Inverness County Centre for the Arts is pleased to present land remembers us: from the Arctic to the Caledonian’s, an ongoing photographic research-creation project by artist Julie Forgues.
Through photography, Forgues explores the deep connections between landscape, memory, and belonging, tracing the ancient Caledonian geological formation that links the Canadian Maritimes with Scotland, Ireland, Iceland, Greenland, and beyond. Her work focuses on transitional landscapes where nature and culture meet, inviting us to consider how our relationships to place extend beyond our own lived experiences and how unfamiliar landscapes can become deeply meaningful.
About the Artist: Julie Forgues holds an MFA in Studio Arts (Photography) from Concordia University and a BAV from Université de Moncton, where she has taught since 2000. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and she has participated in numerous artist residencies, including in Scotland, Iceland, Ireland, China, and the Arctic.
